AN EXCLUSIVE CHAT WITH COMMISIONER OF POLICE, FCT, ABUJA

Please may we meet you Sir?

My name is Mohammad Mustapha, Cp Fct.

Sir, would you like to share your story so far with Gdev News as the Cp Fct?

So far it's been wonderful being  the Cp of Fct because for me it is a call to duty and I'm happy, I'm here to listen to the complains, problems and worries of the people of Fct. By the grace of God, together we will pull through because for me, it is all about service to humanity.

Right sir, would you also say it is challenging here at the Fct?

Well, it's quite challenging here at the Fct but like I said before, for me it is a call to duty. Nothing can be too challenging for me in the cause of discharging my duties. For instance, there was this case of kidnapping. We didn't only get the kidnappers but also recovered the vehicle and money stolen. Millions of naira to be precise. We got them and the vehicle because they were going to cross the border to Niger Republic. Abuja is the centre of everything. Ministries, State governors, National Assembly etc. Abuja as it where, is highly populated and so what we are trying to do is bridge the gap between the police and the people of Fct. We have our own strategies though.

How about in the area of criminal hideouts and cases in the Fct, what are you doing about them?

In fighting crimes in the Fct, a lot of measures are being put in place. For instance, when transferring cash from one place to another, a good orientation should be applied. You can use the security agents to do that without raising any alarm with the siren or using  any other form of attraction. That makes it hard for criminals to suggest your next line of action. Members of the public should be security conscious all the time and be proactive.

CP Muhammad Mustapha

Sir, just like you are new as the Cp of Fct, we also have a new IGP. How would you describe the new IGP?

The new IGP is an IGP who has stayed a long time in the mobile. He is an operational man. Secondly, he has his own agenda and we all are keying into his agenda. For instance, Abuja, Kaduna and Niger have over 500,000 mobile police deployed there for special beats.

Sir, what advice do you have for the residents of Fct?

They should always remain calm and law abiding. We are really trying to close the gap between the police and the people.

Finally, as a Nigerian , a father and the Cp Fct, what message do you have for Nigerians at this critical point in the history of the country?

I know things are very hard now in the country so people should guide against their cash. They shouldn't expose their cash because you don't know who is watching. They shouldn't expose their cash to 419ers. They should secure their homes and make it so hard for criminals to have access to. Then lastly, if you see something say something! He rounded off with a smile.
