ONDO 2016: MIMIKO'S GOVT DESERVES CONTINUITY - EDUCATION COMMISIONER
The amiable honourable commissioner of education in Ondo state, Hon.Jide Adejuyigbe, was found on seat when gdev news crew paid him a visit in his Akure office under the ministry of education , Ondo state; And before they could delve into their reason for visiting him, they updated him on the fact that they were present for progressive reports on how education is faring in the state, immediately, he was motivated to recount how the outstanding governor Mimiko popularly known by many as THE IROKO of the land and of the political party PDP, has done so well for the state in terms of building mega schools in the state, that also serve as public schools. Now, one is forced to ask how the private schools compete with these mega public schools in Ondo state? But he was quick to say that both the private and the public schools are all regulated by the state ministry of education therefore there is no competition amongst them. 'Gov. Mimiko believes so much in education and so he went the extra mile in putting these structures on ground and hopes to get a continuity in government by the time he leaves office in November 2016, he said.
There is also something unique within the education ministry in the state and that is creating a platform we called the five (i)s. Basically stand for
INSPECTORATE,
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY,
INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT,
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPEMENT,
and INCENTIVIZATION.
We also have the Teachers Service Commission, Subeb and the Library Board, all put in place by the governor to enhance education in the state. Permit me to also say that other states do come here to look at what we have on ground and then go back to their states to want to do same.
Therefore, in this light, I will say gov. Mimiko has done well in educational sector in the state compare to what we use to have in the state. All of these cut across the entire state so, education is for both the urban and rural communities. And we also have free shuttles to and fro schools for all', he rounded off. But before he could stop at that, Michael of gdev news asked him how have they been coping with funding all of their projects and he replied by saying, 'they have what they call Ondo state educational development funds which they use to run all of their projects'.
